Privilege

“Why have a car if you’re not going to drive it,” inquired the boy as he marveled at the television ?

Well, son, some people like to collect things—they’re what I call, “privileged and monied.”

Privileged and monied, huh?

The son googled privileged and monied on his smart phone as his dad changed the channel on the television.

Are we  privileged and monied, Dad?

No, son uttered his dad as he changed the channel from the broadcasts of the protests of people screaming “Free Palestine.”

We’re middle class Black people; we can’t be privileged.

The son gazed at the television as his dad channeled through stations. The dad eventually chose to view a documentary on The N -Word and The National Association for Advancement of Colored People.

“Dad?” Inquired the boy. “Is there a National Association for the Advancement of White People?”

”Hell to the no. That would be racist,”exclaimed the dad.

“But why?” retorted the boy?
